Returning from vacation

Written by Eric W on August 18th, 2009

A little over a week ago, we returned from a weeklong vacation.  It’s tough, sometimes, getting back into the groove of things.  You’ve seen some of this over this week – a missed posting (first since April, I believe?), postings not on time… Well, here’s what’s occupying my thoughts: the cruise.

Yes, vacation was a cruise through southeast Alaska.  I may live here, but it seems that I never see anything other than Anchorage. Most of my friends have gotten about – it’s their job, in many cases.  My wife has seen a bit, also in relation to her job.  But me?  No, I’m always in Anchorage.  Or out of state.  But very, very seldom out of Anchorage & in state.

If you’re wondering about the Seward pics from earlier, once or twice a year doesn’t count, in my book.

So needless to say, I was looking forward to the trip.  A chance to see things, a chance to play around with some photo ideas, a chance to really see some great scenery.  I did get all of those, but the scenery just wasn’t as good as I’d have liked.  Call me spoiled (I am), but the haze & smoke from the 500+ wildfires in Canada just put a damper on the views.

So all in all: we had a great time, but photos aren’t as good as might be.  And that’s a bummer.
