Mid-Winter Funk

Written by Eric W on December 21st, 2009

I’m having a hard time dealing with this winter, despite the recent Hawaii trip.  Perhaps an example of why:

Yesterday, noon

Grey, all around

It has just been grey.  I mean, we only get five & a half hours of light as it is, and then we go through a week & a half of fog & overcast skies. Last Friday was the first time I saw the sun in the middle of the day in almost two weeks (the above pic was taken at noon).

The world in gray….I’m sure photographers in “America” look at your image and wonder what filter you used to remove all the color! Or if that is 100% post-processing to de-saturate the color! Nope, just another Alaska high-noon day!

Yeah, it’s pretty weird to some folks. I’ve had comments that the snow isn’t believable – it’s too grey.

Except, that’s us. Our snow *is* grey!
